SUMMARY: Lock Stock and Barrel is the premier West Coast auction house for firearms, militaria, and shooting/reloading accessories with a focus on ethical and honest business practices. We are a fast paced company currently seeking a Human Resource Generalist for a part time, 20 hour per week hourly position.  Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for and/or assist in the daily operations of the department. Responsibilities include recruiting, on-boarding, performance evaluations, job descriptions, benefits, leaves of absence, employee relations, safety, workers compensation, and enforcing company policies and procedures. Advanced skills and proven experience in the following areas are required: organizational, general office, technology, writing, leadership and interpersonal communication as well as the ability to coordinate multiple tasks, work independently, and display a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality and the ability to get along well with others. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training. This may include safety training, policy, supervisory and anti-harassment training.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and oversees Certificate of Eligibility completion.
  • Implements new hire orientation, handles on-boarding and updates HRIS system and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Processes unemployment claims and responds to inquiries from the EDD office, attends appeal meetings as needed.
  • Oversees and manages workers compensation claims.
  • Coordinates Open Enrollment and meets with employees to process enrollment forms and update premiums in the HRIS system.
  • Files the new hires report to the EDD office.
  • Maintains personnel files.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Be able to demonstrate mature judgment, initiative and critical thinking.
  • Ability to get along well with others and be a positive member of LSB.
  • Must have a valid CA drivers license, clean DMV and the ability to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the Department of Justice.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field and at least 3 – 5 years work experience in Human Resources. SHRM-CP a plus.
